Allow insurance to become active for future date

I wish the system would choose the insurance by date of service - if the date of service falls within that insurance's effective date, then it should choose that insurance to bill to. If a patient comes in and has a new insurance but the billing is not yet done for the expiring insurance, it's not helpful to not be able to keep the expiring insurance active while entering the new insurance. If it just pulled insurance to apply by the date of service and insurance effective date window, there wouldn't be an issue.

Is there a way to add a client portal form that would update the insurance information into the clients file automatically when the client fills out the form with their insurance information, including a plan start date? This would be very helpful for clients that are changing plan for the New Year. Thank you.
