Make progress note Creation Date optional

HI there! I love using Theranest to input my client notes but the new "creation date" feature is not my favorite. I often write notes by hand and enter them in later when I have time. This feature makes progress notes inflexible and could potentially hurt us during an audit. Regardless of whether or not the work has been done. Theranest helps simplify our practice, however, this new feature only makes it more rigid and seems to be put in place to get others into trouble. Can this creation date field be made optional?

Please make this optional! This is very problematic.

Completely agree this should be optional. The session date and time is sufficient.

I also hand write and dictate or type later and do not appreciate this feature.

I supervise 12 clinicians. I understand this feature holds them accountable, however we do all live in a real world that makes it impossible to be perfect 100% of the time. Thinking that we are is a fallacy. As professionals that pay for this service, we SHOULD have the option of a feature such as this. It is not always conducive and i would love to see it go.

I agree with all of the comments. I think the feature should be optional. I am not able to enter my notes at the time of my sessions and usually write my notes by hand and then reenter them into Theranest. This feature is making me reconsider my agency using this program.

Although there may be many therapists who requested this feature, clearly there are many of us who oppose it. Please consider making this optional. This has the potential for being very problematic during an audit that could result in having to repay reimbursements because the session minutes don’t coincide with the time of creation of the notes. This makes it appear we spent less time with the client than what we billed. This won’t go well with a state audit.

Insurance companies in my state only want to see specific session times. They do not want to see note creation times and begin to question why different times are on the note. There is one company that does like the creation time. The ability to turn on and off the creation time would be very valuable.

I agree that the date of the notes should be optional or editable.

This should absolutely be optional. This is currently preventing me from being paid because I do not sit in front of a client and write my notes, therefore the appointment time contradicts the creation time and this is an issue with payouts.

I understand that some people requested this feature, but I don't know why you wouldn't make it optional from the beginning. What is worse is that there was no significant warning from you about this to enable us to prepare...

I agree! I hate this new feature. I too, take written notes during session and on less busy days, I enter them into the system. Due to being a part of several court and grant based programs I have to share my notes and I do not like that the date of service and what is technically just the "entered" date reflects that I made notes a week later, when really the notes were taken concurrently with the session.

I definitely think the the "creation date" feature should be optional. The fact that the note is not entered into theranest does not mean that the date was not created at the time of service. I would greatly appreciate if this was an optional feature.

I don't mind it being on the form in the program but do not like that it is in the printed version.

I like the OPTION of having it. When I'm doing intakes I'm documenting concurrrently in the session with my laptop. That means my notes will show a creation time of 10:05am for a 10am session and it would appear as though it's contradicting a 60 min session if I'm able to create a note in the middle of a session. If this could be disabled as an option it would help minimize confusion.

I hate the mandatory creation date on notes. It is unnecessary and creates false accountability for those of us who do not need it. Please make it optional.

I like the creation date feature. But I wish there was a way a disabling it. I have a very busy practice sometimes over 30 patients a week. Catching up on notes now means that several notes may end up with the same "creation date." That's not helpful at all in my private practice. It's looks fishy when in reality it just means that business is GOOD and I am busy busy busy.
