Ability to put in insurance payments as a batch and apply to multiple client invoices

Sometimes an insurance payment will be for more than one client. I think it would save time and eliminate user error if there was a way to input a batch insurance payment and be able to apply it to invoices of multiple clients.

If your organization uses our partnered clearinghouse, a new feature is available called Manual Insurance Payments, which allows you to manually enter insurance payments, enter write-offs, and shift balances to the client all on one screen. I noticed an issue when receiving lump sum credit card payments from insurance companies, they request to be processed as the full amount despite having multiple clients under the payment. Which leads to putting the funds all under one client (throwing off their ledger) instead of the appropriate designated clientele. If we could accept a general credit card payment and then at least deduct the amount from the appropriate clientele's ledger, it would be beneficial.

it would be nice to to go accepted claims with the payer remittance advice and select all of the claims that were processed, add the payment number and date and credit all of those clients at once. For example I get an Remittance advice from Anthem and it is for $1200.00 for claims they accepted and I can select all all of the claims received and processed during that (accepted) time and have the clients be credited without having to go into each clients file do this process manually. If there are different amounts than what was processed then there should be an option to change the amount processed and received.

Where are we at with this TN???? Its 2023 and users have been asking since 2015. I should not have to go to 45 client ledgers to apply for insurance payments that are issued on the same check. I should be able to pull a payer and see ALL OPEN invoices and have the option to apply a bulk payment. WHY are we still asking for this!? This is an inefficient workflow process that needs to be updated..

There needs to be a way to apply one insurance payment we receive in the mail to multiple clients. We will sometimes receive checks up to 9,000 and it can take hours to post since we have to go client by client. This should be able to be done by duplicating the current Batch Payment Wizard (that is only for clients!!) and instead allowing it to be a check, and applied to the clients Insurance Balance. This shouldn't be a difficult feature to implement since we receive ERA's for multiple clients and it shows the full payment amount rather than making me apply it individually. It could even be added to the Claims tab of billing by creating either an option in the ERA Received (turn it into Remittance Received) or by creating a new tab for remittance received where we can manually enter the amounts.

EVERY software I have ever used in 32 years of billing has you enter a check from the insurance in a cash posting screen then select the patients and enter the payments, contractuals and patient portions from there. Going patient by patient thru the ledger is insane. This workflow in the whole system is just awful for billing. So bad that we are now going to manually bill from another system until we can get off of this.

Additionally, it would be nice to be able to post insurance payments into one column, insurance adjustments, and what is being transferred to client responsibility all on one page. Currently we have to go into the ledger 3x and hit save 3x. Such as waste of clicking.

It is insane to not enter a batch payment to ensure posting is balanced. If I get a check for $5000, I need to know that I have posted $5000.00. What if I entered a decimal point wrong? What if I skipped a patient altogether? How would I know that ALL has been posted. This is a terrible system for accounting, we will be moving to a new software that understands billing and accounting.

This would also be incredibly helpful for claims that are submitted manually (rather than electronically through TheraNest).

This would be incredibly helpful to be able to enter payment details once from an insurance check that has multiple clients. Not only that, but it would help cut down on posting errors as well.

It would be very efficient to accept insurance payments by insurance instead of adding them client by client.

I completely agree. A huge part of what we do to keep our practice going is Effective Accounting. This would allow for effective reconciliation.

This should be automatic. It should have been allowed from the beginning. It's like they've never been paid by an insurance company before. It needs to be changed now.

I completely agree with this AND at the same time give us the ability to update the status to PAID while posting the payment at the same time- or. have the program auto-post this status, but I would prefer to update my own status to PAID, PENDING, PT BAL, APPEAL, RESUB, DENIED, ETC. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT THERANEST- PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS IDEA!!!!

It takes us hours to post commercial payments from the state of Virginia. We receive checks from insurance companies for more than one patient. Also, one check we receive each month is for an average of 60+ different clients, so this means 60+ separate transactions... and no way to adequately make sure there are no errors as each individual payment is entered into each patient's ledger. Please provide an update as to when/if this feature will ever be given real consideration. Otherwise, unfortunately, you will end up loosing us as a new customer. Please advise soonest.

in agreement with all 3 of these comments, manually posting a check 1 by 1 by 1 by 1 is VERY time consuming and can result in posting errors, many systems have a batch payment posting, you all really need to reconsider this feature!! however I see that folks have asked about this since 2015 and the functionality still isnt there, so I guess it will not happen :-(, too bad it's a decent program, but drastically lacking in this area, will have tell my client to stay clear.

When an insurance payment comes through that is intended for more than one patient it would be more efficient if the whole payment could be posted under one payment number/EFT/check number then applied to the appropriate dates of service for each patient. This option would be beneficial in tracking a payment, if the need were to arise at a later date, filtering payments by the insurance company, and would reduce the possibility of a user error or something not being posted in full due to all of the manual steps that currently need to be done to post a payment. Having to process a payment from the ERA section under Billing, then having to go to the submitted claims and mark the invoice as paid due to the insurance paying at the contracted rate not the billed amount, then going to each individual patient invoice that was paid on the check to show the adjustments as completed, and finally 'writing-off' the insurance adjustments. I'm sure I have missed a step, however I hope the functionality of payment posting can be upgraded to be more efficient for all clinics using TheraNest.

Insurance will send me one check for multiple clients. It would be nice to be able to enter the total check amount and then put the portion received for each client instead of having to enter each payment one at a time.
